The full Governing Body meets twice each term and to help its workload is supported by three committees, each with its own chair and terms of reference.  Committees consider issues within their remit [see below] and minutes are kept to record for the full governing body, discussions and

decisions made.  In addition, governors make focused visits to the school as part of their monitoring role and write reports for colleagues and staff

[see examples on school website].

Governors can be contacted via the school and non-urgent items can be placed in the special post box found in the reception area.  From 2015

an Annual Statement for parents will be produced to show issues which governors have addresses and this will be in addition to our termly

‘Governor News’.

Staffing, Finance & Pay Committee

Curriculum & Data Committee

Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Premises Committee

This is the committee which overseas school spending and makes financial plans for the future.  As the governing body is the employer for most people employed at the school, another role for this committee is to consider all matters in relation to staffing and to create and implement a pay policy.

This committee ensures governors are up to date with curriculum developments. It focuses on an important planning tool known as THE SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PLAN which identifies the main targets school will be addressing going forward.  A data group is responsible for looking at the school’s performance data in detail while the governing body as a whole looks at how well children are progressing in their learning.

Ensuring that school premises are safe and that school is compliant with current H & S legislation is the job of this committee.  Funding for repairs and refurbishment is also within its remit and there is a named governor for the two key areas of Health and Safety and Pupil Safeguarding.
